Welcome to the Dalmeny Skating Club Team!

The DSC's vision and mission are the same as SkateCanada:
We are committed to the development of personal excellence through participation in skating
and are dedicated to providing people who reside in Dalmeny and the surrounding area
the opportunity to participate in skating through their lifetime for fun, fitness, and achievement.

Meet Our Head Coach tara

Tara is excited to take on her second season as Head Coach in Dalmeny. In addition to her coaching role, she has earned her Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and is a certified Personal Trainer through The Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology.  When she is not on the ice, Tara balances her time between running a Real Estate Photography business and running off-ice training sessions at Ignite Athletics.

As a competitive athlete Tara represented Team Saskatchewan, Quebec and Team Canada. She lived and trained near Montreal for 6 years. With over 10 years on Team Saskatchewan, she has competed at many National Championships as well as Saskatchewan and Canada Winter Games. As a Junior Pair skater, she is a three-time National medalist and singles skater silver medalist. In 2014, she competed internationally on the Grand Prix circuit and qualified for the Junior World Championships in Bulgaria.

We are so excited to have her back as our Head Coach and Lead STAR Skate coach!

Welcome back Coach Tara!

Meet coach Phoebe

Phoebe has been skating with Dalmeny Skating Club since 2005, when she was just 4 years old! She has been helping with CanSkate since 2014. She completed the CanSkate coaching course in 2024 and looks forward to continuing her coaching journey with Dalmeny Skating Club!

Phoebe is currently completing her MSc degree in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences, after earning her BSc in Animal Bioscience. She hopes to use these degrees to study and protect wildlife health. She also volunteers at Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation, where she helps to return injured and orphaned wildlife back to the wild.

She has always loved skating, especially jumps and different glides, but her absolute favourite thing about skating is getting to share this love and see new skaters improve and find their own joy in skating. I can't wait to see everyone out on the ice!

We are so excited to have Phoebe with us for another season of CanSkate!

Meet coach Kara

Kara is Regional Coach certified and has 12 years of coaching experience in CanSkate, Rising STARs, STARSkate and Beginner Synchronized Skating. She has her Gold Dance, Skills and Interpretive tests as well as her Senior Bronze FreeSkate test. She also competed on Adult Synchronized skating teams for 4 years.

Kara's coaching philosophy is to provide quality fundamentals and technique from the beginning of a skater's journey in all disciplines to instill a strong foundation to achieve their skating goals and promote a lifelong love of the sport.

Outside of the rink, she has completed her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy degrees, and works as an Occupational Therapist. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, Rudy, and her husband, Paul.

Kara is excited to join the Dalmeny Skating Club this season! And we are so excited to welcome her as our Lead Rising STARs coach!

Alison has always loved skating, and looks forward to sharing her passion with the skaters this season. She hopes to inspire people to be life long athletes, and to give back to the community that helped her grow as an individual.
